Can You Get Progressive Lenses With Astigmatism?

Progressive lenses can often be prescribed with correction for astigmatism. Astigmatism prescriptions commonly include cylinder and axis values, which work with the main distance correction and the progressive design.

Because progressive lenses contain several viewing areas, accurate prescription entry and fitting measurements are important. Your eye-care professional determines the appropriate cylinder and axis values for each eye.

Ordering With Astigmatism

Use your current prescription and enter the right-eye and left-eye values exactly as provided. Do not estimate cylinder, axis, ADD power, or other prescription fields.

If you have a high or complex prescription, ask your eye-care professional whether a particular progressive design or frame would be more appropriate. Correct fitting remains an important part of comfortable progressive eyewear.
